Antonella Rea (language tutor) and Stefano Montinaro (photographer and photography tutor), are planning on running an educational holiday for those interested in speaking Italian and photography. This holiday will take place in Ragusa. The mornings will be spent either photographing with our resident photographer Stefano or attending a language course at Ibla! School, a well renowned school specialising in teaching Italian to adults.
Monday to Friday will be focussed on the educational aspects of the holiday. In the mornings you will be attending lessons either at the language school or learning photography with Stefano. In the afternoons, Antonella and Stefano will take both groups to discover some of the less known sights of the city and admire the splendid Baroque cities of Ragusa and Modica. This area is listed as a World Heritage Site and is also, of course, Inspector Montalbano land!
We will be flying from Newcastle International Airport to Catania Fontanarossa on Sunday 24/02/2019 and coming back on Sunday 03/03/2019.
If you are part of the Photography group your holiday will include:
- Transfers between Catania airport and your accommodation in Ragusa
- Accommodation: you can choose between 4 star hotel, 3 star hotel and self-catering – all conveniently located a short walking distance from the school.
- Photography tour
- Visit to Modica and Scicli
- Guided visits in the afternoons
- A visit to one of the historical carnivals celebrated every year around Italy
- If you wish, the chance to learn a little Italian with the help of the language tutor
If you are part of the LANGUAGE group your holiday will include:
- Transfers between Catania airport and your accommodation in Ragusa
- Accommodation: you can choose between 4 star hotel, 3 star hotel and self-catering – all conveniently located a short walking distance from the school.
- Five days (Monday to Friday) morning tuition at Ibla! School from 9.00am to 12.30pm for a total of 15 hours.
- Visit to Modica and Scicli
- Guided visits in the afternoons
- A visit to one of the historical carnivals celebrated every year around Italy
- If you wish, the chance to learn a little Italian with the help of the language tutor
- If you wish, the chance to learn to improve your photography skills under the guidance of Stefano
Not included in holiday costs
- Lunch and evening meals will be enjoyed in various locations chosen especially to allow you to try traditional cuisine from Sicily at affordable prices.
- Public transport in and around Ragusa.
- Flights not included currently costing around £200 from Newcastle airport

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED
- Fill the booking form to express your interest, please use the table containing the accommodation details indicating clearly your preferred option.
- If you would like to travel with a partner who is not intending to take part in either of the educational programmes we can agree a price.
- Ideally we need to receive this information by mid-November, at which point Stefano and I will decide if we have sufficient numbers to proceed with the holiday.
- To confirm your place, you will have to pay a non-refundable £100 deposit to Antonella Rea, payable by check or bank transfer by the 30th November 2018.
- As soon as you have paid your deposit we recommend that you buy your flights, details of which will be given to you on receipt of the deposit.
- The cost of your trip to Ragusa will depend upon the type of accommodation you choose. There are two hotels located less than 1 km from the school. Ibla Resort is a charming 3 star hotel and Antico Convento is a restored convent transformed into a beautiful 4 star hotel. You can also choose to stay in a self-catering apartment.
